Sunday, Jan 8, 2012: Peace Plaques with mixed media artist B.J. Christofferson

Participants use beads, shells, toys, feathers, buttons, charms, glitter, sequins and a variety of doodads to decorate an 8’’ diameter wooden peace symbol with its own leather hanging cord.  Makes a fabulous wall decoration or bodacious extra large necklace!  Feel free to bring your own small cast-offs to recycle and re-use.

Previous Workshops

Nov. 6: Tie Dye with Scott Rohr of Twisted Groove
Learn tie-dye techniques to create psychedelic, out-of-sight, wearable art!  Examples of various shirt patterns and color combinations will be displayed.  Scott will demonstrate various folding and dying techniques and then help you create your own groovy garment. T-shirts and materials will be provided. You may bring along an extra cotton or silk item to dye, such as socks, scarf, pillow case, or cotton bag.

Dec. 4:  Macramé Friendship Bracelets with textile artist Lynn Cooper
Make an easy and original beaded macramé friendship bracelet.  You will learn two knots that can be used to create a unique piece of art. All you need are nimble fingers, a little free spirit and you’ll go home with a one-of-a-kind piece for yourself and a friend!
