Ragamala Dance Company: Six Yards of Memory

A dress with images printed on it standing next to a fabric collage of photos of dancers from the Ragamala dance company.

Opens May 1, 2018 at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul—Free

This multimedia installation of fabric art and photography by Ed Bock encapsulates Ragamala Dance Company's 25 years as an early incubator of collaborative performance works that forge together ancestry and continuity. The installation highlights the journey of artistic directors Ranee Ramaswamy and Aparna Ramaswamy as immigrant women artists, their creative vision weaving the wisdom of their ancestry, and the openness of their new home to become a vital part of the fabric of contemporary American dance.

This installation is located in a new exhibit space on the History Center's first floor. It is on display through June 3, 2018.

During Asian Pacific Heritage Month, the Minnesota History Center is partnering with Ragamala Dance Company on several programs to celebrate the company's 25th anniversary season.
