History Players in the Libraries

Bring the stories of Minnesota's past into your public library!

Costumed characters bring Minnesota's history to life in History Players in the Libraries, a collection of interactive programs designed especially for public libraries.

Inspire patrons of all ages to read more about the people, places and events that have shaped Minnesota by booking one of these engaging performances.

We offer programs for both adult and family audiences.

History Player Characters

Using props and artifacts, costumed characters from Minnesota's past step forward in time to share their memorable stories. Presentation length is 45 minutes. Characters distribute bookmarks to audience members at the end of each performance.

Adult Program Characters:

Harriet Bishop (1817-1883), St. Paul's first public school teacher 
William de la Barre (1849-1936), Chief water engineer for Minneapolis
Joseph Nicollet (1786-1843), French scientist, mathematician and geographer of the Minnesota region
Toni Stone (1921-1996), First Woman to play Professional Baseball with the Negro Leagues 
Virginia Mae Hope (1921-1944), World War II Women's Airforce Service Pilot
Frederick McKinley Jones (1892-1961), African-American inventor and self-taught engineer
Maud Hart Lovelace (1892-1980), Author of the "Betsy-Tacy" series of children's books
Mary Dodge Woodward (1826-1890), Domestic manager of a bonanza farm
